Lands’ End Loves Love

Valentine’s Day is here and whether you’re single, in a relationship or “it’s complicated,” today’s the day when love is all around us. Being the nosy person I am, I asked a few of my coworkers about their own versions of Valentine’s Day.

From couples to singles, Lands’ End loves Love.

How long have you been with your significant other?
5 years

What was your most memorable Valentine’s Day?
Last year I received flowers from him while at work. He was on a work trip in Tanzania but still made time to call the local florist here in Dodgeville. I’ve never received flowers at work before and would have never expected them, especially since he was in Africa!

What is your favorite Valentine’s Day candy?
Conversation hearts. “U R A QT” gets me every time.

What’s your favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Cooking crawfish etouffee (a generations-old, Louisiana family recipe) as a reminder to Dave of what a great Cajun catch I am.

How has your Valentine’s Day changed over the years?
Now that we live in Wisconsin, there’s a higher chance that I’ll get a box of cheese rather than chocolates… a true sign of love.

How long have you been with your significant other?
12 years

What was your most memorable Valentine’s Day?
Dave and I took a picnic hike through the Tennessee Valley, just north of San Francisco. The trail ends on the top of a bluff overlooking the Pacific, where we had a picnic and a bottle of wine and a big kiss! (This was before we had kids).

What was your most memorable Valentine’s Day gift?
Last year my 4-year-old son, Calder, made me bath soap at his preschool. WOW, did it smell! Very special.

What will you be giving for Valentine’s Day this year?
A trip to Mexico complete with Lands’ End swimsuits and rash guards (plus a couple of super cute mix and match pieces from the SwimMates collection for me!)

How has your Valentine’s Day changed over the years?
With two kids (ages 5 and 1), it’s become more of a family affair. I put homemade Valentines in lunch boxes and make heart-shaped homemade pizzas and Valentines snow globes—not things I was doing when it was just the two of us!

What is one piece of advice you can give to all the hopeless romantics out there?
If a man (or woman) walks in the room and your whole body sparks from head to toe, don’t ignore it. It’s worth the wait.

How long have you been with your significant other?
Kelly & I met in the summer of 2012 so a little over 18 months.

What was your most memorable Valentine’s Day?
I would have to say last year because it was our first Valentine’s Day together.

What will you be giving for Valentine’s Day this year?
Probably something from the new Landmark Collection, like the Geneva Tote. We’re a tote family…we use them constantly for weekend trips, workout gear, races, shopping at the farmer’s market.

What’s your favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Dinner reservations, hitting one our favorite spots Nostrano! We had our third date there and we’ve been going back ever since.

What is one piece of advice you can give to all the hopeless romantics out there?
Don’t stop believin’, Hold on to that feelin’

How long have you been with your significant others?
Since my eldest niece Sophia was born, so 10 years now, 8 years with Ava and 18 months with Bennett.

What was your most memorable Valentine’s Day?
Valentine’s Day has always been a family affair in my household. One year we all went to a big dinner together – that’s nine people. We shared big plates of Italian food – lots of spaghetti and sauce and desserts. It fed my belly and my heart – cheesy but true.

What was your most memorable Valentine’s Day gift?
Last year, I had just moved to Wisconsin. I didn’t really know anyone and I was pretty lonely. Lo and behold, I came home and there was a big pink Valentine in my mailbox. Each of the girls had written me a note and even the baby “signed it.” It made my day.

What’s your favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
I love that Valentine’s Day is all about my nieces and nephew. If it makes them feel loved, I’m all for it! <3

How has your Valentine’s Day changed over the years?
I used to wonder who I’d be with and where I would go on Valentine’s Day. Now my only worry is if I’ll get home in time to Skype with the kids before they go to bed.

What is one piece of advice you can give to all the hopeless romantics out there?
Love comes in lots of different forms. Who knew my greatest love would be my sister’s kids? I couldn’t be happier about it. Look for love in unconventional places, people and pets.

How long have you been with your significant other?
My wife Jodi and I have been together since April 15, 2005 (Tax Day). We still like to joke about that with each other.

What was your most memorable Valentine’s Day?
Valentines Day of 2009

During Thanksgiving of 2008 I asked Jodi’s dad if I could marry her. During Christmas my parents invited Jodi and me to join them on a weeklong getaway to Spain the week of February 14. I knew Spain would be the place where I would propose so I let my parents in on my plan. Jodi and I were flying into Newark on the 14th to meet up with my folks to catch a plane with them over to Madrid. However, weather delayed our flight to Newark and when we finally landed we found ourselves running through the airport to meet my parents at the connecting flight to Spain. Leveraging the romance of Valentine’s Day, my parents (who were already on the plane) told the flight crew that I was traveling to Spain to propose. They held the plane for Jodi and me. Jodi boarded first. When I thanked the flight attendant for holding the plane and gave her my ticket to board, she smiled, winked and quietly said congratulations.

What is your favorite Valentine’s Day candy?
Red & white peanut M&Ms!

What’s your favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
I love to make Jodi dinner each Valentine’s Day. And I always write a love letter.

How has your Valentine’s Day changed over the years?
Oh just a bit. Now that we have two boys under the age of three our Valentines Day dinner involves wine glasses and sippy cups.

What is one piece of advice you can give to all the hopeless romantics out there?
Stay hopeful! Three days before I met my future wife I had given up on ever meeting the one.
